Oral Piercing Tips

Oral piercings require extra care as they are the passageway to your stomach and other vital organs. It is very important to properly care for your new piercing during the given healing period.

Cleaning

  • Inside of Mouth: rinse mouth with cleaning solution such as antimicrobial/antibacterial alcohol free mouthwash or a Saline Solution*, for 30 seconds after meals and at bedtime (4-5 times daily) during the entire healing period. Cleaning too often or with too strong a rinse can cause discoloration and irritation of your mouth and piercing. For tongue piercings, avoid brushing tongue for the first 3 weeks.
  • Exterior of Piercing: refer to general instructions on Before & Aftercare page.

*Saline Solution dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized salt into 1 cup (8oz.) of distilled or bottled water. A stronger mixture is not better and can irritate your piercing
